Hello
My name is Betty Alevras
Betty Ann Alevras is a Family Nurse Practitioner here at Family Healthcare Associates that has worked here since September 2020. She started at FHCA as a registered nurse in the Laurel County public school system and then progressed into an advanced practice role in June 2021.
She was born on May 13, 1979, in Manchester, Kentucky at the local hospital, Manchester Memorial Hospital. She grew up near Manchester, KY in the small rural community called Hector. Her childhood was blessed with two loving parents and one older sibling, a brother, who is now deceased. Their parents always pushed them to do better and go farther than they ever imagined they could. Her parents molded her into the person she is today, and she thanks God, every day, for her parents. As a child, she loved playing “nurse” and taking care of everyone around her, which sparked her love of nursing.
Her career started at Eastern Kentucky University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She started her nursing career at Manchester Memorial Hospital where she worked for 12 years prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. She attended Walden University and obtained a Master’s in Nursing Degree and was recognized by Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing from Walden University. She chose to become a family nurse practitioner in rural southeastern, KY, particularly Manchester, because she feels rooted in this community and that she can relate to the struggles that people in this area face daily. She wants to make a difference here, at home.
She is married to a wonderful man, Steve, and they have 3 boys, ages 24, 14, and 12. They welcomed their first grandson, Jayden, 10 months ago and they are blessed beyond measure. They attend a local Baptist church in the community. In their free time, they are very active in sports with their boys, football and basketball, traveling to tournaments most every weekend and they love every minute of it. When they’re not watching the boys play sports, then they enjoy spending time with their grandson. They love to travel and have quality family time. One fun fact about her – she is left-handed!
She loves working for Family Health Care Associates! She says that she has been treated like family since day 1. Her co-workers are Christian men and women, and as a Christian herself, this is so important in a work environment. She appreciates being able to work alongside people that understand the importance of medicine but knows the impact of a simple prayer when someone is in need. Her goal is to have a positive impact in the lives of the people in Manchester, KY and to know that we have made a difference in their lives.
